CANCER FOUNDATION FOR NEW MEXICO APPOINTS

VINCENT BACA AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Santa Fe, N.M. – Bud Hamilton, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico has announced that Vincent (Vince) Baca has been appointed Executive Director of the nonprofit organization. He will succeed Interim Executive Director Bunny Terry who will remain on the board as Vice Chair until the end of August to ensure a seamless crossover for the organization.

In making the announcement, Mr. Hamilton said “We had 5 strong finalist candidates in our Executive Director search.  Out of that group Vince was the number one pick of everyone on the search committee. That’s a strong vote of confidence in his capabilities and capacity as we move forward!”

Speaking about the appointment Mrs. Terry said “As the Interim Executive Director and Board Vice Chair, I knew how important a strong, successful, and locally connected Executive Director was for the Foundation. I’m delighted that Vince was the search committee’s unanimous choice to move us into an exciting new future while we continue to help our northern New Mexico neighbors get to their life saving cancer treatment.”

Mr. Baca has over twenty-five years’ of highly successful leadership experience with a number of large, multifaceted not-for-profit organizations and government entities in Washington, D.C., Massachusetts and in New Mexico.

In New Mexico, Mr. Baca served as the first Executive Director of the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation helping to establish the Foundation as one of the most influential, impactful and financially successful not-for-profit organizations in the Southwest.  In addition, he has provided senior level advancement consulting services for a number of not-for-profit organizations throughout the West in the areas of child and family services, animal adoption and medical services, animal sanctuaries, museums, educational institutions, and the arts.

Upon completion of his undergraduate work at The University of New Mexico, Mr. Baca worked as a U.S. House of Representatives congressional staff member on Capitol Hill. There he began what has become his lifelong passion of helping to provide services and assistance to those most in need in his native New Mexico.  During his time in Washington, Mr. Baca helped oversee constituent services for the 3rd Congressional District of New Mexico.

While completing his graduate work at Harvard University, Mr. Baca served as the initial developer of the first coordinated student services program for the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Boston.  Later, in Cambridge, he led the Alumni Clubs program for the Harvard University Alumni Association providing educational and social programming to over 160 alumni clubs worldwide.

In speaking about his new position Mr. Baca said “I am truly humbled and quite honored to have been selected to serve in the role as Executive Director for the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico.  The opportunity to work with such an outstanding staff and exceptional board of directors, for a cause which impacts nearly every New Mexican at one time or another, is gratifying and exciting.”

Mr. Baca is a native New Mexican and is the proud father of three incredible kids and three enthusiastic grand-dogs.  In his spare time, he enjoys working out, traveling, cooking and reading – as well as exploring new places and meeting new people.

The Cancer Foundation of New Mexico is a local, independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works to helps save lives by providing the needed support to enable every northern New Mexican with access to treatment in Santa Fe. Its annual Sweetheart Auction, set for February 5, 2022 at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, is a highlight of the Santa Fe social calendar and raises much needed funds for the organization’s mission.
