Services available based on financial need

Travel to Treatment Mileage Reimbursement

Most cancer patients throughout northern New Mexico must travel to Santa Fe for treatment, which may cause significant financial hardship or may not be affordable at all.  We provide mileage reimbursement to qualifying patients.

Overnight Lodging

Some patients are required to travel significant distances to get through a course of treatment, and roundtrip travel isn’t always practical, advisable, or even possible. We provide qualified patients with overnight lodging next to the Regional Cancer Center so they can rest and focus on recovery.

Food Assistance

A cancer diagnosis often results in increased financial obligations and reduced wages. In order to ensure that nutritious foods aren’t cut from the family’s budget while patients undergo treatment, food assistance is provided to those who qualify.

Services available to all patients regardless of financial need

Support Groups

We offer several types of support groups to cancer patients and their loved ones. Whether newly diagnosed, newly recovered, dealing with a metastatic condition, or mourning the loss of a loved one, there is an experienced, licensed facilitator ready to welcome you into our support network.

Volunteer Support during Treatment

Trained volunteers (many who have been with us for 10 years or more) are available to assist patients with basic comforts while undergoing chemotherapy. They may provide warm pillows and blankets, snacks and beverages, or are happy to keep you company (or leave you alone) based on how you’re feeling.

Community Resource Information

In addition to the services offered by our organization, other community resources may be available to you. Based on your unique circumstances, our Patient Services Coordinator may be able to help you identify additional types of support.
