9/16/18: CFFNM Welcomes New Additions


The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico is pleased to announce new additions to its team of Medical Consultants and Board of Directors. Each individual is deeply committed to furthering the Foundation’s mission and brings a unique area of expertise to the table. We thank them for their volunteer service to our organization.

Karen LoRusso, MD

Medical Consultant

Medical consultants provide a critical service to the Foundation by offering guidance on oncology diagnosis and treatment, and making recommendations regarding the services we provide.

Dr. LoRusso is President of New Mexico Cancer Care Associates. She completed her residency at the University of New Mexico, received her Fellowship training at the University of Virginia, and has practiced in Santa Fe, NM, since 2005. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.  She is a member of the American Society of Medical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.

 

 

Bill Buchsbaum

Board of Directors

We welcome Bill’s return to the Board of Directors after a one-year hiatus. He has been actively involved with several local non-profits for many years, including the  Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Native Treasures, Southwestern Association for Indian Arts, Mentoring Kids Works NM, and the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico.

He spent 30 years as an investment adviser, and is the author of 2 books on the stock market.

Bill enjoys taking Beau, his 10 pound Maltese therapy dog, to hospitals, clinics, and skilled nursing facilities. Bill and Beau often visit up to 1,000 patients monthly.

 

Chris Castro

Board of Directors

Chris is the co-founder of V+C Public Relations, a consulting firm specializing in communications, branding, and corporate strategy for technology and health sciences companies. Previously, she was Chief of Staff for Elysium Health; served as Senior Vice President at CBS Corp.; was Vice President of Communications for 23 and Me; and was Senior Vice President for Corporate Relations at Genentech.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a Master of Arts degree in Communication Management from the University of Southern California.

Chris is also on the board of Creative Startups here in Santa Fe, and volunteers at The Food Depot.

 

Steven Gray

Board of Directors

Steve is the Owner and CEO of Gray Technologies, providing software to logistics businesses. Prior to that, he was actively involved in the restaurant industry – both as a Chef and restaurant owner.

Steve is the Chairman of the Perfect Day Foundation in Nashville and is a Board member of the Española Humane Society. He is also actively involved with his family’s non-profit, which studies the total limnology of fresh water.

Steve is a national water skiing participant and enjoys snow skiing, tennis, and cooking.
