AND OTHER RENOWNED ARTISTS
Santa Fe, N.M. – the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico Board of Directors today announced The Supper Club: At Home. The event will take place on September 20, 2020 at 6pm (MST), and is easily accessed through the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico’s website. It is dedicated to Corinne Collins, who recently retired as the long-time Executive Director of the Foundation and joined the Board of Directors.
Each September, Cancer Foundation for New Mexico (CFFNM) patrons traditionally gather at The Compound Restaurant in Santa Fe, New Mexico to raise funds for the 10/10 Visionary Fund, which supports CFFNM’s permanently restricted endowment. The 10/10 Visionary Fund secures the future of CFFNM’S mission “to save lives by providing the needed support to enable every northern New Mexican with cancer to access treatment in Santa Fe.” Due to COVID-19 restrictions, CFFNM is not able to hold an in-person event this year. However, it is continuing the successful collaboration with Mark Kiffin, James Beard Award-winning Executive Chef and part owner of The Compound Restaurant, by offering every donor who contributes $1,000 through The Supper Club: At Home a $100 gift card to the restaurant. (For example: If you donate $5,000, you will receive 5 gift cards. If you donate $1,000 you will receive 1 gift card.) This ongoing collaboration is in the spirit of the Foundation’s local orientation; neighbors helping neighbors. We continue to support our neighborhood restaurant and the community of northern New Mexico through this program. The Board of CFFNM expresses its appreciation for Chef Kiffin’s continued sponsorship at the Silver Level.
Additional sponsors at the Lavender Level include Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM and Waterstone Mortgage Corporation in Santa Fe.
Online access is free for The Supper Club: At Home. However attendees are encouraged to donate and thereby enable the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico to reach its fundraising goal.
Guest artist features in the half-hour program will include performances by three Grammy Award®-winning vocalists: Mezzo-soprano Joyce Castle, and sopranos Patricia Racette and Jessica Rivera. Miss Castle’s appearance is courtesy of Des Moines Metro Opera and Iowa PBS. Miss Racette is accompanied by Beth Clayton and Miss Rivera’s collaborative pianist is Mark Carver. In addition, Southwest Art magazine cover artist Rebecca Tobey will discuss her sculptures from Ventana Fine Art located on Canyon Road, a Santa Fe street dedicated to the country’s finest art. The fifth artist offering will include excerpts from Filmmaker Gwendolen Cates’ PBS/Independent Lens documentary, Water Flowing Together, which provides an intimate portrayal of retired New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Jock Soto. A native New Mexican, Mr. Soto will also share his journey as a cancer patient who benefitted from the support of the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico.
Compelling patient, provider, and volunteer stories complete the program. Speakers include volunteers Valerie and Bud Hamilton (CFFNM Board Chair); William “Mac” McIntosh; John “Obie” Oberhausen (who is also a massage therapist in the chemotherapy suite); and Bunny Terry (CFFNM Board Vice Chair). Health Care Providers Joanne Fay Brown MSW, Bryan W. Goss MD, and Marty Wilder Noss LMT offer treatment perspective. Patients Leon Borduin (also a donor); Bradley Deet, and Anne Noss share their journeys.
For full information on all participants, please visit the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico website.
The program is professionally produced by Joe Locarro, CEO and Founder of Suspension Productions, a video production and post-production company based in New York City with clients such as PBS and the Lincoln Center Library for Performing Arts. Jesse Fisher of Cut Print Video Production filmed and photographed content in New Mexico.
