Save the Date! Supper Club 2019 is Around the Corner.
The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico invites you to the fifth annual Supper Club at the Compound Restaurant. The focus of this event is to raise awareness of our permanently restricted endowment, the 10/10 Visionary Fund and to secure the future of our mission to help save lives.
This year’s guest speaker is Mr. Jock Soto:
During his acclaimed 24-year career at City Ballet, Mr. Soto had leading roles in numerous works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins and Peter Martins. He also inspired the creation of roles in many new ballets, including Mr. Martins’s A Schubertiad (1984), Ecstatic Orange (1987), Fearful Symmetries (1990), Jazz (Six Syncopated Movements) (1993), Sinfonia (1993) and Morgen (2001).
Although Mr. Soto retired from dancing in 2005, he returned to the stage in May 2007 to originate the role of Lord Capulet in Peter Martins’s new production of Romeo + Juliet. He staged Jerome Robbins’s Afternoon of a Faun for the Royal Ballet of London in 2006.
His passions for both dance and the culinary arts were detailed in his 2011 memoir Every Step You Take (Harper Collins), and he has made many television appearances including PBS and the Food Network.
