Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Deputies Raise Over $5,000 for Cancer Patients!

We’re excited to announce that the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office (inspired by the No Shave November movement), spent the entire month of November growing out their facial hair to benefit cancer patients served by the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico!

Each deputy donated $25 on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office to participate in the campaign, and then proceeded to solicit peer-to-peer donations from their own personal networks of friends and family to raise a cumulative total of over $5,200! Progress was closely monitored on social media, and while some beards grew in thick and wiry, others struggled to make an appearance. All participants, however, received an “A+” for effort, as the tremendous amount of enthusiasm it took to generate 178 donations (averaging $30 each) was truly humbling.

Early last week, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza invited staff members from the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico to the Sheriff’s Office for a jumbo check presentation, including hot dogs and nachos. CFFNM’s team returned the favor by presenting a “Beard” trophy to the Sheriff’s Department to preserve the occasion for posterity. We hope to work with the Sheriff’s Office again next year!
