Signe is a longtime Santa Fe community leader with extensive experience in public service, governance, education, and business. She served on the Santa Fe City Council from 2014 to 2026, including as Mayor Pro Tempore. Her legislative interests were diverse. Before serving on the Santa Fe City Council, she served for 8 years as a Planning Commissioner. Signe was not born in Santa Fe but says she got here as soon as she could!
Signe contributes to numerous community organizations, including the Santa Fe Community Foundation Grants Committee, Enterprise Bank & Trust Advisory Board, and Marty Sanchez Advisory Committee. Earlier in her career, Signe was a university professor in health and safety education and a business owner in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. She earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from West Virginia University. Signe is dedicated to strengthening organizations through thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and service to the Northern New Mexico community.
