Bill Buchsbaum has been a dedicated volunteer and philanthropist in Santa Fe for over two decades. Though not originally from Santa Fe, Bill and his wife Jane were named Santa Fe Living Treasures in 2018 in recognition of their deep commitment to the community — a reflection of their belief in giving back through service, time, and leadership.
Bill enjoyed a 30-year career as an investment advisor and is the published author of two books on the stock market. Since 2003, he has been an integral part of the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico, where he serves as the longest-standing board member. His involvement in nonprofit work also includes leadership roles with the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Native Treasures, the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts, the Free Indian Market as well as serving on the board of Mentoring Kids works, a program committed to helping third graders learn reading, writing and math by hiring high school and college kids with mentoring abilities.
Bill and Jane’s generosity also includes a 1997 gift to MIAC of the Gallery of Southwestern Pottery. Their lifelong theme of service is matched by a deep love for the culture and people of Santa Fe.
In his spare time, Bill enjoys sharing the comfort and joy of his 8-pound Maltese therapy dog, Beau, with patients at hospitals, clinics, and skilled nursing facilities throughout the region.
