The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico Welcomes Scott L. Aeilts to Board of Directors

Santa Fe, New Mexico – July 9, 2025 – The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico is honored to announce the appointment of Scott Aeilts to its Board of Directors. Scott brings more than three decades of leadership in large-scale organizational management, finance, and enterprise operations to his new role supporting cancer patients across northern New Mexico.

Scott currently serves as the Associate Laboratory Director for Business Management at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), where he oversees key enterprise functions including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer activities, strategic sourcing and procurement, contractor assurance, project management, and quality operations. His work has consistently supported mission success and high organizational performance.

Prior to joining LANL, Scott served for eight years as Associate Laboratory Director for Mission Services at Sandia National Laboratories. In this role, he directed all business operations, including enterprise-level project management. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at the Kansas City National Security Campus, including Chief Financial Officer and Senior Director of Strategy and Operations, where he led financial initiatives and strategic improvements in Six Sigma and enterprise operating systems.

Scott holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, is a Certified Public Accountant, and is a Six Sigma Green Belt. A strong advocate for community engagement, he has served on the boards of the University of New Mexico Anderson Foundation and the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce.

“We are grateful to welcome Scott Aeilts to our Board,” said Executive Director, Vice Baca. “His commitment to excellence and deep understanding of complex systems will help us continue building a strong foundation for patients and families in need of critical cancer support services.”

The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico was established in 2003 as an independent, nonprofit organization. While maintaining strong partnerships with healthcare providers, the Foundation operates separately and directs its funding entirely to support cancer patients. Every dollar raised goes toward helping individuals in northern New Mexico access the care and resources they need during treatment.
