Chef Cristian Pontiggia grew up in Sassella in Lombardy in northern Italy.  The Italian government recognizes him as a master chef. You and five guests will be treated to a gastronomic delight at each of these exceptional and prominent restaurants.

“Beacon of Light”, Healing with Heart Oil and Encaustic Wood-Panel Painting by Andrea Bonfils and Marcia Shaffer

Healing with Heart is a new initiative of the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico, which pairs an artist with a cancer patient or survivor to create a work of art that tells a story of determination, hope, and inspiration about the journey through cancer.

The title of this piece describes the late Marcia Shaffer and captures the energy generated by her hope and positivity. It reflects the moments of dark, light, pain, and pleasure that she and the artist agreed lead to a true balance. As Marcia said, “We all want to be important in our lives, leave a legacy, or make an impact.” 

Andrea Bonfils is an artist with a master’s degree in clinical social work. She uses a wide range of materials including found objects, photography, and encaustic wax to create works that investigate the convergence of nature and humanity.

“Beacon of Light” is 36.5” h x 80.5” w x 1.75” d framed (floater frame).

This stunning bronze of a soaring eagle on a rotating wooden base is a new piece by Star Liana York, named one of Southwest Art Magazine’s 30 most influential artists. York’s body of work reflects her interest in the people, animals, environment, and history of the Southwest, which she has studied and interpreted since moving here in 1985. The piece measures 40” h x 16” w x 13” d.

Personalized Painting and Lunch for Ten with Artist Beverly McIver at CONTAINER Turner Carroll Contemporary Art

Artist Beverly McIver, who grew up in the projects of Greensboro, NC, and witnessed a shooting by the KKK of a man outside her home, has become one of the most celebrated Black women artists of our century. Her paintings are the subject of a retrospective exhibition currently touring museums across the country; this exhibition features works from the artist’s “Dear God” series. The Smithsonian acquired one of her paintings for its permanent collection in 2022. She currently teaches painting at Duke University.

You will receive a personalized, custom-created “Dear God” oil sketch and have the opportunity to inscribe it with a prayer. Then enjoy a lunch with the artist at CONTAINER for ten people, including yourself. 

The preferred date for the lunch and sketch is Sunday, 2/12/23 (from 11 am – 3 pm!) but it can also be arranged on a mutually agreed date later in the year.

“Woman at the Window”, Color Woodblock Print, Artist Proof, by T. C. Cannon

T. C. Cannon (Kiowa/Caddo), 1946-1978, was a revolutionary artist, creating a new movement in Native art which focused on the art and politics of the era. He is undoubtedly one of the most important Native American artists of all time. His works are rare, highly sought after, and very collectible.

He began studying at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe in 1964, under the tutelage of Fritz Scholder.  By 1978, Cannon was scheduled to have a one-man show in New York City but, months before, he was killed in an automobile accident. The show was held in 1979 and traveled to the Heard Museum and the Museum of New Mexico. Cannon’s work can be found in MOMA in New York, Boston’s Museum of Fine Art, the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts and the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe, and the Crystal Bridges Museum, among many others. 

This piece is the artist proof in a series of 200 and measures 30” h x 25” w.
