Dear Friends of the Cancer Foundation Family,

If you’re reading this, chances are that cancer has impacted your life in some way. Maybe you’re a survivor, a caregiver, or someone who has supported a loved one through their diagnosis. You understand how challenging and frightening that journey can be — how much life changes the moment cancer appears.

That’s where we step in.

The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico is here for all Northern New Mexicans facing cancer — patients, caregivers, friends, and families alike. Together, we bring hope, comfort, and practical help to people on their cancer journeys. And none of it would be possible without you — our community of compassionate supporters who make this work real every single day.

This past year alone, your generosity made a remarkable difference:

  • More than $280,000 in direct food assistance, so stomachs didn’t have to go hungry
  • Reimbursement for 571,328 miles of travel, so no one had to skip treatment because they couldn’t afford the fuel for their vehicle.
  • Nearly 550 nights of lodging so patients could rest comfortably near treatment,

We also increased our average support per client to over $1,800 — the highest level in our history. Additionally, our emergency fund helped cover rent, utilities, and other urgent needs for families in crisis, and we expanded our emotional and physical support groups for patients, caregivers, and those who are grieving.

Looking ahead, the demand for our services is expected to continue growing. More people in Santa Fe are receiving cancer treatment than ever before, and the rising cost of living is making it harder for families to make ends meet while facing a cancer diagnosis. At the same time, cancer is affecting more people across the country, including younger adults who are often juggling work, family, and other responsibilities. This makes the support we provide — from travel and lodging to food and emotional care — more important than ever. The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico is prepared to help — and with your continued support, we will.

Because of you, patients can focus on healing instead of worrying about how they’ll afford to get to treatment, where they’ll stay overnight, or how they’ll put food on the table. Because of you, hope truly lives here in northern New Mexico.

Donor Funds Make an Impact

To start and complete treatment is the first step to survival for a cancer patient. Working with our donors we help to save the lives of our neighbors here in northern New Mexico. Patients are able to begin their cancer treatment confident that they will be supported until their treatment is completed. It is with the financial contributions of our generous donors that we have been able to keep our promise: no patient who qualifies for our services will ever be turned away.
